With the new flyer, the Jazz-Schmiede is already entering the new year 2023, and we can't help but say: things will remain exciting in the coming weeks! And by that we mean the music and the concert moments on our stage and not the numerous challenges that the cultural sector is currently facing and will continue to face.

It is simply wonderful to finally be able to welcome internationally touring ensembles to Düsseldorf again. We remember the impressive concerts by Anna Webber (USA) and Peripheral Vision (CAN) in October and most recently the Ohad Talmor Trio (USA) with their performance of posthumously discovered Ornette Coleman compositions. Next up is Wako, one of the most innovative formations on the current Norwegian scene (more Scandinavian acts will follow in February at our monthly globalklang concert and the big German-Danish double concert evening on 24 February).
And of course the national scene, for example with Janning Trumann's Large Ensemble - featuring great soloists throughout - or Frederik Köster's Verwandlung, doesn't need to hide behind the international names.

Also really exciting every time: our young talent concerts in the New Faces series, which in recent years has repeatedly brought the stars of tomorrow to Düsseldorf's stages for the first time (such as in February 2008 with a young Frederik Köster).
We are therefore delighted that the Sparda-Bank West Foundation for Art, Culture and Social Affairs has extended its commitment to this special format and that we will be able to continue to bring newcomer talent to the Schmiede over the next two years!

Have fun studying the programme flyer and come along - there's no substitute for a live concert! Our traditional Christmas session, with which we would like to end the year together as usual, is on 17 December. We look forward to a great evening with you!

Vielen Dank an alle die diesen Sonntag so spontan zu unserem Soli-Konzert „Stand With Ukraine“ in die Jazz-Schmiede gekommen sind und gespendet haben!

Danke auch an dasJJO NRW als Initiator des Abends sowie an alle Beteiligten und alle Musikerinnen und Musiker die mitgemacht und das Konzert ermöglicht haben!

Um die 90 Personen haben zugehört und die Aktion unterstützt. Die gesamten Eintrittserlöse und 750€ zusätzliche Spenden (Wow, vielen Dank dafür!) gehen nun direkt an das Bündnis „Entwicklung Hilft“. Insgesamt konnten so 2.026€ gesammelt und der Nothilfe zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

Wir freuen uns sehr für den Deutschen Jazzpreis 2022 in der Kategorie Spielstätte des Jahres nominiert zu sein!

Die drei nominierten Spielstätten, neben der Jazz-Schmiede das A-Trane in Berlin und der Stadtgarten Köln wurden hierbei per Voting unter den Mitgliedern der Deutschen Jazzunion ermittelt. Die Preisträger-Spielstätte mit der höchsten Stimmenzahl wird am 27.4. bei der Preisverleihung in Bremen bekannt gegeben.

Am 27. April 2022 findet zum zweiten Mal die Verleihung des DEUTSCHEN JAZZPREISES statt – des größten Musikpreises in Deutschland für die nationale und internationale Jazzszene. In insgesamt 31 Kategorien werden außergewöhnliche und innovative künstlerische Leistungen mit Preisgeldern in einer Gesamthöhe von über 300.000 € ausgezeichnet. Nach erfolgreicher Premiere 2021 in Hamburg findet die diesjährige Verleihung in Partnerschaft mit der weltweit größten Jazzmesse jazzahead! statt. Die Preisverleihung des DEUTSCHEN JAZZPREISES wird als Präsenz-Veranstaltung für Live-Publikum im Metropol Theater Bremen erlebbar sein.
