Jazz and world music in the Hofgarten
Jazz and world music for everyone!
Four open-air concerts at the music pavilion between the theatre and Schloss Jägerhof. The traditional series has been running since 1978 and in the 48th year of the format, which is known far beyond the city limits, the name still says it all: the selection of bands once again thrives on the exciting variety between contemporary jazz and musical excursions into exciting musical cultures.

Margaux und die Banditen
The international Cologne band Margaux & die Banditen combines chanson, jazz, theatre and literature to create a unique style. The founder of the ensemble - singer and actress Margaux Kier, who comes from Poland - devises the programmes, translates Polish poetry and writes her own texts: her credo "Chanson likes jazz" gives her outstanding fellow musicians plenty of scope for imaginative improvisation. The ensemble has been performing on German and Polish stages for over 20 years, has played at renowned festivals and has been recorded live by Deutschlandfunk and WDR. At the beginning of the band's history, the connection to Poland was the strongest impulse, but now the influences of Margaux's fellow musicians and her own travels and projects are important.
Maik Krahl’s In-Between Flow
Trumpeter Maik Krahl belongs to a generation of young musicians who are enriching jazz with their own ideas and sounds - beyond clichés or gimmickry. His compositions emphasise tonal finesse, melodic depth and formal clarity.
The programme is based on his third album In-Between Flow. The title describes that state between departure and arrival, between change and inner peace - as a musical image for a creative process that never stands still. His original compositions span an arc between lightness and thoughtfulness, between fine groove and controlled energy.
Maik Krahl studied with Till Brönner and Ryan Carniaux, among others, has long been stylistically independent and has made a name for himself on the German scene with his quartet. With his quartet, he presents an expressive concert programme - modern, focused and full of musical agility.
