Thomas Siffling Remembering Chet

Fr 22. 03. 2024
Normal price € 18,– / Reduced € 14,–

With this programme, the internationally renowned trumpeter from Mannheim pays homage to his great role model, the great lyricist of jazz history Chet Baker. There are certainly parallels. In addition to Baker, Siffling is also characterised by his velvety trumpet sound, his lyrical, never intrusive and demanding playing style and the gift of the right notes at the right time. Melodies, the sound and a relaxed jazz style always take centre stage. Siffling is accompanied by a rhythm section that reads like a who's who of the German jazz scene. Martin Sasse from Cologne on piano is regarded as one of the best swing piano players in Germany, Nico Brandenburg from Düsseldorf as one of the busiest bass players on the scene and Patrick Manzecchi from Constance on drums as one of the most swinging drummers on the southern German scene. So you can look forward to a relaxed, swinging evening with the finest West Coast jazz, well-known songs and a great and enthusiastic band.

News about the event

  • You'd be so nice to come home to – a one-minute glimpse into this great Cole Porter composition as played last Friday by the Thomas Siffling Quintet with their 'Remembering Chet' program. What a great evening with a sold-out Jazz-Schmiede and so many classic tunes!
We often play Chet Baker's legendary Riverside recording, 'Chet,' after our concerts, so it was a joy to listen to this interpretation. Musicians are Thomas Siffling (flügelhorn), Olaf Schönborn (As), Martin Sasse (p), Nico Brandenburg (b) and Patrick Manzecchi (dr).
