Tribute To Coltrane

Chico Freeman and Antonio Farao’ pay tribute to the music of one of their main sources of influence and inspiration with classics by John Coltrane which they revisited along with some of their compositions. They are joined by bassist Philippe Aerts and drummer Benjamin Henocq. Chico Freeman, saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, embodies the intent to seek new ways of expression that embrace the heritage and great tradition of jazz. Many critics have compared him to the greats of jazz history and the proof lies in the fact that he has played and recorded with some of the most famous and innovative musicians in the world: Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, Sun Ra, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Eddie Palmieri, Jack DeJohnette, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Haynes, to name a few. “I was immediately attracted to him by the harmonic conception, the joy of the rhythms and the sense of swing, the grace and candor of his improvised melodic lines. Antonio is not only an excellent pianist, he is a great one”Herbie Hancock. Antonio Faraò has always traveled the high road of jazz with such conviction and technical mastery that he does not fear comparisons with jazzmen from all over the world. He has performed and recorded with a number of great jazz musicians like Jack Dejohnette, Chris Potter, Benny Golson, Marcus Miller, Ivan Lins and many more.
