The Jazz-Schmiede is one of the most renowned venues for contemporary jazz in Germany and the central venue for jazz concerts in the greater Düsseldorf area. It is one of the most beautiful live music venues in Düsseldorf and combines the special ambience of a club with the open acoustics of a small concert hall, ideal for performances from small groups to big bands. Musicians greatly appreciate the Jazz-Schmiede, as confirmed by numerous awards:
in 2022, we were nominated for the German Jazz Award.- in 2023 and 2024, we received the APPLAUS and the NRW venue programme award.
Around 150 events take place during the season from September to the beginning of June. Since the opening on 29 September 1995, the event chronicle shows 3755 concerts with 4466 performed musicians.

Usually start at 20:30. Since 1995 regularly featuring regional and national formations/musicians.
Jam Session
Tuesdays at 20:00. A permanent institution at the Jazz-Schmiede: free admission! A changing opener band hosts the evening.
Big Bands
Once a month with regional big bands and other large formation projects.
On Stage - the Jazz-Schmiede stage programme
The series of events for cabaret, chanson, theatre, etc. offers a platform for predominantly local groups and individual artists alongside the Schmiede's jazz programme
New Faces
Since 2007, a platform for young up-and-coming musicians from the region (mainly student formations from the neighbouring music colleges).
globalklang - world music
globalklang is our series for world music, global music cultures and traditional ethnic music.
usually on the 1st Wednesday of the month in the series 'Klangkosmos Weltmusik in NRW' as well as on other selected evenings and in the Hofgarten (see below).
Summer break, jazz and world music in the Hofgarten
From June to the end of August: Season break, supplemented by our concert series ('umsonst & draussen') "Jazz and World Music in the Hofgarten" (last Saturday in July & the first 3 Saturdays in August).
Spot on Jazz Festival
A 3-day festival held every two years in spring, in cooperation between the Robert Schumann Hall and the Jazz-Schmiede: chamber music hall meets jazz club! Next edition: 2019
