Folkwang Jazz Orchestra

As it does every January, the Folkwang Jazz Orchestra is giving its rousing guest performance at the Schmiede – a fine tradition dating back to 2011! Performing in a classic big band line-up, the ensemble consists of students from the Folkwang University of the Arts and plays swinging, powerful and richly varied jazz by renowned composers and arrangers from the history of the big band. The music ranges from traditional to contemporary and more orchestral sounds, whilst the high standard of this renowned Essen-based institution guarantees a cohesive, dynamic yet subtle and nuanced ensemble sound, as well as original and creative solo performances.
