Kira Linn – Her Wings

Baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn presents her new large ensemble, *Her Wings*. Poems by female writers such as Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell and Sappho form the centrepiece of her compositions. In them, she blends jazz and improvisation with singer-songwriter elements.
The texts, some of which are more than a hundred years old, are given a new musical form, thereby taking on contemporary relevance. Between fully composed passages and improvisational freedom, a multi-layered soundscape emerges that brings the individual expressiveness of each musician to the fore.
With *Her Wings*, Kira Linn fulfils her long-cherished wish to found her own large ensemble – whilst at the same time providing a new platform for female authors whose words continue to touch and move us to this day.
