Ramón Valle Trio featuring Maite Hontelé
2nd Cuban Culture Week in Düsseldorf
An ode to musical friendship, improvisation and Cuban music: Dutch trumpeter Maite Hontelé and Cuban pianist Ramón Valle share a musical friendship that sounds like a journey into the heart of Havana: colourful, full of improvisation and mutual trust.
Hontelé, a Cubadisco Award winner and Latin Grammy nominee, enchants with a warm tone reminiscent of Miles Davis and Chet Baker. Valle is regarded as one of the most original pianists on the Afro-Cuban jazz scene; he has collaborated with Roy Hargrove, Marcus Miller and Chucho Valdés.
The music is a living dialogue: serious and playful, structured and spontaneous – what Valle calls ‘levitando’: living in the moment, playing with an open heart.
in cooperation with the Düsseldorf regional group of the Friendship Society between the Federal Republic of Germany and Cuba e.V.
