The Lilith Walkenhorst Quintet from the Cologne jazz scene creates worlds of sound with poetry settings, vocal readings and new perspectives on jazz standards that touch and resonate. The familiar is not simply interpreted, but retold with a personal touch and a contemporary perspective.

The voice takes centre stage - sometimes as a lyrical instrument without lyrics that merges with the other instruments, sometimes as a narrative force in the foreground. The result is a lively dialogue between word and sound, tradition and the present.

New Faces is the newcomer series at the Jazz-Schmiede and presents young talents twice a month and perhaps the big names of tomorrow!
