Elisabeth Lohninger Band
Queen Goes Jazz
When Elisabeth Lohninger takes to the stage, it is clear that she is rethinking jazz. Described by the press as the "Kate Bush of jazz", she moves confidently beyond stylistic boundaries. With her velvety, dark alto voice, she provides a deliberate counterpoint to the exalted theatricality of Freddie Mercury - soulful, subtle and highly expressive.
Together with pianist Walter Fischbacher, Lohninger dedicates herself to Queen's repertoire and transforms iconic songs into intimate, jazzy miniatures. Well-known anthems and rarely performed titles are reduced, rearranged and consistently tailored to the voice and sound space. Queen Goes Jazz spans a musical arc between intimacy and euphoria - a stylistic bridge that allows familiar material to be experienced in a surprisingly new way.
