The highly gifted trumpeter Jakob Bänsch is an extremely promising talent in jazz. His latest album impresses with Bänsch's incredible technique, intonation and compositional diversity and already reminds US journalist Bill Milkowski of Wynton Marsalis' debut.

Bänsch comes from a family of professional musicians and began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. As a junior student of Bastian Stein at the HMDK Stuttgart and a member of the Bundesjazzorchester, he has made a name for himself in the field of jazz music. He has been a member of the Bundesjazzorchester since 2020 and began studying jazz trumpet at the HfMT Cologne a year later. The musician is also part of the WDR Young Composers Fellowship Programme and the Gutenberg Jazz Collective. As part of the ElbphilJazz-Academy, he was selected as a scholarship holder and presented his music in the main hall of the Elbphilharmonie. He has been leading his own quartet since 2022, which won 2nd place at the Munich Jazz Prize.
