Kathrine Windfeld is recognised as one of the most exciting and inventive new Scandinavian jazz composers and arrangers. She has been leading her big band for more than 10 years and has toured internationally, including in Brazil, where she played her music with a Brazilian orchestra to sold-out concert halls in Sao Paulo and Savassi. The multi-award-winning musician (including the "Rising Stars Award" and the honourable "Ben Webster Prize" for her unique revival of the big band genre) and her big band have already performed on stage with international greats such as Mike Stern, Seamus Blake, Immanuel Wilkins and Gilad Hekselman. In March 2024, Windfeld will release her debut album with the Kathrine Windfeld Sextet.

Together with the CCJO, Kathrine Windfeld will present a selection of her latest pieces from the albums ORCA and DETERMINATION, as well as some brand new and previously unreleased pieces. Kathrine Windfeld's breathtaking compositions thrive on a rare combination of delicacy and power: a colourful encounter of refined harmonic passages, driving grooves and poetic ballads floating in her explosive arrangements. Always on the lookout for new challenges, the CCJO proves to be the perfect sparring partner. The audience can expect emotionally charged pieces full of temperament, humour, captivating solo points and unexpected musical twists and turns.

"Kathrine Windfeld is a rising star on the European jazz scene, not least for her bold writing for her adventurous big band." Jazzwise Magazine (UK)

"Windfeld's band of leading young Scandinavian musicians is as tight and sharp as any you'll hear." The Guardian (UK)
