Latin American soundscapes between tradition and renewal (Colombia)

The siblings Natalia, Sebastián and Sergio Castrillón from Manizales, Colombia, combine harp, cellos and vocals in their Senase Trio to create a fascinating encounter between tradition and experimentation. Their original compositions interweave Latin American folk with classical music and improvisation - characterised by Natalia's innovative harp playing and expressive singing, the virtuoso cello voices of Sebastián and the multidisciplinary sound research of Sergio, who now teaches at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. At the concert, the trio will present its new Latin American programme - and celebrate its German debut at the same time. An evening that opens up global soundscapes and shows how deeply rooted cultural tradition and contemporary musical thinking can enrich each other.
