Romano Schubert Quartet

The focus is always on the shared sense of excitement. The melodies often sound like old acquaintances, sometimes coming across as cheerful and dance-like and occasionally flowing rapidly into ecstatic modern jazz. Then again, you think you can hear Basie swinging, until a floating melancholy characterises the chamber music ballads, which radiate an endless calm and dissolve into determined and gripping funky grooves.
