Hedin & Meidell are known for their unmistakable sound and their unrivalled interpretations on nyckelharpa and baroque violin. In duo format, they create complex arrangements that breathe new life into traditional 18th century melodies. Ida's expertise in various violin styles and baroque music, combined with Johan's innovative playing of the nyckelharpa, characterises their complex soundscapes, in which they sensitively revive rich Nordic traditions and seamlessly combine them with contemporary forms of expression. Past and present rejoice in the most beautiful tones!
Johan Hedin and Ida Meidell are leading figures in the Nordic folk scene. They met for the first time in 2015 during a performance at the EBU live broadcast of the Stockholm Early Music Festival on the European Early Music Day. They made their debut as a duo at the 2019 Korrö Festival and have since toured extensively throughout Sweden and beyond. in 2023 they released their critically acclaimed debut album 'Klockarens musikaliska värld', followed in 2024 by the CD Prowinciale.
