Jam Session – Jonathan Schierhorn New Qartet ll

Jonathan Schierhorn invites you:
The 25-year-old drummer founds the New Quartet 2 shortly before moving to New York and Berlin. He has his own compositions and newly arranged jazz standards in his luggage. A special feature of the programme is that some of the pieces originally come from American musicals, while Jonathan Schierhorn has added his own lyrics to other standards - so far without lyrics. The music is characterised by a special tension between lyrical expressiveness and rhythmic sophistication.

Every Tuesday: Jam Session at the Jazz-Schmiede. The evening always starts at 8pm with an opener concert set with different formations every week. Afterwards, from around 9pm, there is an open jam session - anyone can come and join in to jam with other musicians and the opening band. Admission is free, so the sessions are also a great opportunity to get to know the Schmiede in an uncomplicated way.
