Latin Jam Session – Andino Project
Opener: Andino Project
The Andino Project trio invites you on a musical journey through the soundscapes of South America. The music combines traditional rhythms and melodies from Argentina, Chile and Brazil with the energy of improvisation.
With vocals, guitars, flutes, percussion and drums, the trio creates a sound that combines traditional songs and modern elements in an impressive way. The ensemble opens up a musical cosmos that is deeply rooted in the culture of the South American Gran Chaco, the vast region between Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina and southern Brazil, where a unique sound space has developed over the centuries. Here, indigenous traditions merged with colonial elements, African rhythms and rural musical forms from Peru and northern Chile. A broad spectrum of regional styles emerged from this historical network, which today find a new common home in dialogue with jazz.
Christian Faig, born in Argentina and active in Brazil for over a decade, inspires with his baritone voice and virtuoso flute playing. Maximiliano Valdés, guitarist from the north of Chile, lends the ensemble his tenor vocals, harmonic subtleties and arrangements. Pablo Sáez, a drummer and percussionist from the jazz fusion scene in Germany who hails from Santiago de Chile, provides the rhythmic pulse and sound.
Together they offer improvisation, virtuosity, vocal arrangements and surprising sound colours that give every concert a special intensity.
Every Tuesday: Jam Session at the Jazz-Schmiede. While our sessions are usually real book sessions and focus on jazz standards, our new session format is all about salsa, rumba and everything Latin.
The evening will also start at 20:00 with an opener concert set, followed by an open jam session from around 21:00 - anyone can simply come and join in to jam with other musicians and the opener band.
