Sophia Oster Quartet

The pianist, singer and composer Sophia Oster is one of the most exciting new voices of the young jazz generation. With remarkable expressiveness and musical maturity, she has long since earned herself a firm place in the scene.
Oster's music is characterised by a deep emotionality and a tangible spiritual level. Her subtle piano playing and her warm, sonorous voice lend the compositions a special depth and luminosity. Her musical expression is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition and at the same time open to new paths. Jazz, classical music and gospel flow together with influences from Brazilian music to create a sound that is multi-layered, personal and full of warmth. Sophia Oster's music is multi-faceted, colourful, powerful and delicate at the same time - borne by artistic dedication, palpable authenticity and musical vision.
She is currently presenting her new album "Praise", recorded with a high-calibre quartet: the multi-award-winning saxophonist Konstantin Herleinsberger, the experienced US bassist Paul Imm (known from tours with Lee Konitz and Rosemary Clooney) and the virtuoso, up-and-coming Brazilian drummer Rafael Müller.
