Winner concert of the Young Jazz Talent Award 2025

Sound colours that unfold slowly, lines that leave space - the Mathis Everding Quintet stands for a modern, transparent jazz sound that thrives on atmosphere and subtlety. Inspired by the aesthetics of the renowned ECM label, the musicians create an acoustic field of tension between calm and movement, structure and freedom.
The compositional work of guitarist Mathis Everding takes centre stage. Some of his pieces are deliberately reduced, others are complex and multi-layered; they allow room for improvisation, take their time and demand listening. Together they create an ensemble sound that does not aim for mere virtuosity, but for depth, texture and musical narrative power.

The YOUNG JAZZ TALENT AWARD 2025, sponsored by the Ringbeck Foundation, is endowed with €5,000.00. A concert tour with the winner's own band will be organised in four renowned German jazz clubs in autumn 2025. The prize money will be used to realise this tour.
