As a former pianist in Lionel Hampton's big band, the New York jazz pianist - a mainstay of the New York jazz scene for 35 years - has since played with top musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Les Paul and the Mingus Big Band, and has accompanied Chaka Khan and Jon Hendricks, among others, as a soloist or in a duo with Peter Washington. He is also a sought-after studio musician and teacher. His deep relationship with swing sets him apart from others. In November 2022, he released his latest album "Grand Company" with jazz legends Ron Carter and Lewis Nash. On its tour of Germany, the Ray Gallon Trio will be presenting the compositions from this album, which sound extremely fresh, but at the same time are deeply rooted in tradition and can be categorised as belonging to the bebop genre.
