Julia Kriegsmann Quartet
The music of Düren saxophonist Julia Kriegsmann thrives on contrasts: Filigree stretches versus energetic high performance, contemporary improvisation versus traditional jazz. Music full of original sound colours between alto saxophone and the sound of the vibraphone.
"With Dark Days & White Nights, she presents herself and her new quartet as an extremely virtuoso musician and multi-faceted composer who loves a clear form and a continuous melody, but is by no means predictable. Rather, the saxophonist succeeds in constantly finding new tonal colours and making them audible [...] The young generation of jazz artists comes to the fore and immediately shows a creative maturity that could be the envy of much older musicians. Julia Kriegsmann maintains a stylistic balance in her compositions as a matter of course and does not compulsively search for compromises, which makes her music very pleasant and interesting to listen to. Exciting arrangement ideas and great solo parts prevent boredom."
